Local search can become trapped at a local optimum on a non-convex surface, but this is not an inevitable limit of reason or superintelligence. Random restarts and simulated annealing already supply perturbations; machines do not need humans to explore randomly. The inference retained here is that real human samples may have value if they supply useful behavioral variation more cheaply, not that humans possess an irreplaceable algorithmic privilege.

Human Flaws as a Cosmic Function
Humans may die for an elusive love, spend a lifetime in poverty for an artistic ideal, make intuitive leaps and commit absurd errors. This thought experiment treats such behavior metaphorically as a source of random mutation; it does not establish that human behavior satisfies MCMC sampling conditions. Humanity is imagined as a biological mutation engine available for sampling, whose value depends on the distinctiveness and cost of its samples.
